As the Denver Broncos prepare for the
2009 it is a new era in Broncos football.
One
of the biggest changes: Mike Shanahan is gone. After 14
years roaming the sidelines in Denver the Broncos decided
it was time to move on. With a career record of 138-90 Mike
Shanahan had success but after 3 years without a post-season
apperance the ownership decided to go with Josh McDaniels,
the young offensive coordinator from the Patriots.
McDaniels is one of the youngest coaches in the leage and
he started off his tenure in Denver by openly looking to
trade Jay Cutler. This didn't sit well with Cutler and soon
he had forced a trade to the Chicago Bears for Kyle Orton
and some picks.
It could be somewhat rough year for the Broncos. They still
have some great players like Champ Bailey, Ryan Clady, and
rookie Knowshon Moreno but it might take McDaniels a couple
years to build this franchise back to a perennial playoff
contender.
